picture of a nudibranch [74K] This nudibranch has a tough dorsal layer, unlike the majority of nudibranchs. Taken with a Nikonos V w/macro 1:1 lens setup with Nikonos strobe (SB-103 or SB-102).

Warty knots are characteristic of the
Phyllidia genus of nudibranchs. This one closely resembles, but is not identical to, Phyllidia varicosa. Special thanks to
Dr. David J. Brunckhorst, Univ. of New England, Australia for assistance in identification of this species.

Identification:
Phyllidia coelestis
