frame #21 Chromodoris coi

The brightly advertised colors of many nudibranchs remind likely predators of trouble. Once a fish or other predator has the unpleasant experience of tasting the toxic flesh of one boldly-colored nudibranch, it is more likely to ignore similarly colored animals.

This particular species of nudibranch crawls by raising and lowering its mantle in a distinctive undulating (rippling) motion.
